Turkey's First Industrial Design Center
Cemer Urban Equipment Inc. established Turkey's first industrial design center. Cemer Inc. Chairman of the Board Fuat Eroğlu, who received the certificate from Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Faruk Özlü, said "As a country, we wish that the goal of almost every sector should not be to imitate, but to lead the world with their own designs, and that design offices increase and design culture spreads throughout the country."
Cemer Urban Equipment Chairman Fuat Eroğlu noted that they started working towards establishing a design center with their belief in the importance of design in the playground equipment sector, saying: "We have been producing urban and playground equipment since 1994. Design has always been one of the issues we particularly emphasize in our sector. We allocate 20% of our budget to R&D and design. In this sense, being the company that established Turkey's first industrial design center is not a coincidence, it can be seen as the completion of a natural process."
Reminding that they were awarded by the Turkish Patent Institute as the company that made the most patent and design registrations sectorally, Fuat Eroğlu stated that Cemer Inc. won the international Reddot Design award in 2014 and received the German Design Award this year, saying "Cemer has already succeeded in making Turkey's name heard in the international arena in its sector with its design activities that it has been carrying out for years."
Stating that as an organization that believes in the importance of design, they started a national level playground design competition in 2014 to create sectoral awareness, Eroğlu said, "Our aim with this competition is to explain the importance of design, R&D, and innovation in the production sector, to compete with the world and create a competitive production sector. At the same time, it is to contribute to the growth of new golden generations who say we exist in design."
Stating that they are working on new designs that disabled people can use and experience some emotions, Eroğlu said, "Also, signing another first in Turkey, we are participating in the TÜBİTAK support program regarding Design and Manufacturing of Playground Equipment for Use by Disabled Children within the scope of the R&D Start-up Support Program. Our products designed based on the dreams of our disabled children will soon turn into implementation."
